a short history
I began producing music as a teenager in 2016, making remixes of my favorite video game soundtracks, particularly a game called Undertale. I was inspired by the many people in online communities who were able to create amazing things with little experience. Wondering if I could do it myself, I quickly fell in love with the process and it became my main creative sink.
Within this time I worked on several collaborative projects that refined my skills and pushed me closer towards a style of my own. I eventually ventured out and began making my own original compositions, a quite fulfilling experience. I continued honing my craft, and by 2021, as I entered university, I released my first track to storefronts and streaming services.
After several years, I landed where I am today.
why make a website?
In this day and age, corporations and social media have gobbled up the uniqueness of the internet. I did not want to relegate my hobby to a site that was constantly under threat of change by an unknowable corporate entity, or someone with deep pockets. Instead, I wanted a home for my passion and creations. Here we are.
If you similarly have a hobby that is more important to you than any particular platform, I recommend trying to do the same. It’s easier than it’s ever been, and sites like Neocities can help you most of the way there. The only remaining piece is your creative dedication.
other hobbies
Aside from producing music, I really enjoy programming and software development—it’s what I’m studying, in fact. I enjoy the drive of discovering a problem and then working to find a solution… even if it results in hours of tweaking. If you’d like to see my work in that regard, see my GitHub profile.
Additionally, I dedicate much of my time to my sci-fi worldbuilding project, Final Frontier. It gives me a good creative writing outlet, and it’s something I can share with friends. Every once in a while, we get together and host a tabletop campaign focused on that universe, strengthening that world all the more.
